The engine room of our lives
Jun 26, 2022New discoveries…are showing that thoughts can be profoundly creative… thoughts can become things in ways that stretch the fabric of our space-time reality. Dawson Church
Modern epigenetics, neuroscience, psychology, quantum physics and other disciplines are now revealing what the ancient mystics knew and practiced: that thoughts become things across a wide range of life. Our beliefs, attitudes and mindset, when held long enough and strongly enough, eventually manifest in our outward experiencing. What we hold in our minds becomes self-fulfilling prophecy.
Positive examples: being so confident of a good reception in giving a speech that our audience warms to us immediately; a sports team enjoying some wins continuing to play their best, flowing game; having enough self-confidence that we are comfortable being liked by someone we are attracted to; a group collaborating to build a new structure, enterprise, business, even a nation, with others inspired by a shared vision, feeling a collective strength and purpose.
Negative examples: the opposites to all the above!
Understanding the power of our thoughts suggests we need to take responsibility for our thinking, and know where it is coming from. The conscious, rational part of our mind is the mere tip of the iceberg. Our subconscious mind is the far greater majority of mind, lying there beneath the surface and driving up to 97% of our behaviours. The superconscious mind is the greater ocean of potential we float within.
Most of our thinking is happening subconsciously, automatically from previous programming: 50% of what we know is already learned by the age of five. This engrained, habitual thinking is generating experience around the clock outside our awareness. Some learning is helpful and constructive, but some came from trauma, pain and misunderstanding, so will continue us in old, outdated ways of survival.
Our conscious mind can send new instructions to below, but first we need to disrupt the old patterns through some form of therapeutic intervention. Secondly we need to reprogram through ongoing, repetitive messaging for the deeper body-mind to take notice. Hypnosis, affirmations and visual imaging are the best tools for this work.
Eventually we can align our unencumbered mind to the unlimited wisdom, truth and abundance of the expansive ocean Mind. A life guided by the highest intelligence, instinct and intuition will thrive in ways unimaginable!
