My Inspiration Story
Apr 01, 2025A few years ago, after many years of working as a psychologist, hypnotherapist in private practice, I heard an inner voice prompting me to “cast a wider net, reach more people.” My passion has never waned for helping people resolve old wounding and trauma, and reconnecting with their spiritual Self. But I knew more people could benefit from the insights and tools I had learned and developed over the years; how to get this work out there? I knew it was a natural progression to share what I'd learned more broadly, but had no idea how to begin.
My first adventures in broadcasting ideas were a self-published book, Maps for the Journey, an audio program on self-hypnosis, The Power of Mind, and a book and card set created with my artist wife Tia, called The Mystical Rose Journey. We had the caring help of a wonderful publisher named Dennis, but the process finished when the boxes of books, CDs, and cards were delivered.
I quickly learned that a high quality, professionally created product is only the beginning of the process of reaching people. While they all sold in reasonable numbers to my existing clients, friends, and family, they were not getting into the hands of people outside of my current circle. I had no idea how to help launch these babies beyond the gravitational pull of my known atmosphere.
The inner calling was not satisfied with these efforts; it only continued to get louder, as my soul still longed to lovingly extend my own little pieces of experience further outward. My prayer, “How can I serve You, Heavenly Father, Divine Mother?” only grew in intensity, as I continued to see more and more the pain and stuckness on this planet.
The next step was to venture into online creations. I did a series of webinars, then some small group online therapy. I began a weekly newsletter and started to build an email list. A year ago, I enlisted the marketing expertise of someone who specialises in assisting mental health professionals in Miranda. Together we have redone the website, created two online programs, been posting copy and videos on social media platforms, built a growing library of videos on my YouTube channel, and podcasts on all the main streaming services.
This stage of ‘broadening the reach’ has been fun creatively, and gotten me out of my comfort zone and in front of a camera. Sharing with strangers has felt like a vulnerable but necessary step in outward expression. Gradually I have been growing this balancing side of creativity; taking what comes from within and sending it without. Inbreath. Outbreath. Which brings me to the very heart of my inspiration story.
My greatest inspiration is all the brave souls I have had the privilege to work with over the last three decades. People who have survived terrible abuse and neglect, been through the darkest places imaginable, yet have found the strength and courage to seek help, face their shadows and heal. It is their demonstration of the power of love to transmute darkness into light that encourages me to share what has helped them on their healing journeys with a wider audience.
The ultimate goal of all this personal growth? To unify and harmonise human and spiritual personalities, our higher and lower selves. To reconnect more fully with our divine nature, then live from this greater inner light in the world around us. To not stop at psychological health and well-being, but to develop our knowing of source. To take whatever level of enlightenment we experience and bring that back into our world. Full circle, torus flowing in both directions.
There is such a hunger now in most people I meet for next level consciousness. The clients who find their way into my practice almost all have a restless yearning to cross the bridge from mundane psychology into the transpersonal dimensions. The knowing that there is a universe beyond time and space, if not already sprouted, is germinating just below the surface.
My passion and purpose is to water those seeds, to assist people in breaking through the hard shell of fear. My personal and professional desire is to allow the sun to shine into our egoic, separated minds, so we may bloom into soul-directed, source-nourished living.
