Welcoming the New Year

ADD DEVOTION

As we enter a new year, filled with change and energetic transition, we will need our connection with Spirit more than ever. A daily devotional practice plugs us back into the flow of Eternity, aligns our human self with our Greater Self, and allows us to be filled with Light, Love, Peace from Prime Creator.

Practice can be as elaborate as a Hindu fire ritual, the American Indian Sun Dance, or Catholic Latin Mass. Or it can be as simple as saying grace, stating an affirmation or prayer, or taking a moment to notice the trees and sky.

Whatever uplifts your heart and mind is a devotion. Use it everyday and notice how you feel afterwards. Here is a beautiful attunement the Essenes used to begin their practice:

Let us enter the eternal and infinite Garden of Mystery,

our Spirit in Oneness with the Heavenly Father,

our bodies in Oneness with the Earthly Mother,

our hearts and minds in Oneness with each other

and with all of creation.

SUBTRACT DOUBT

To doubt the spiritual dimension of ourself is to cut ourselves off from the strength, wisdom, power of our soul; and from the unlimited support of Source.

We can be so disconnected in our intellect and ego arrogance, that we believe there is nothing more to us than brain and blood. Sometimes a disaster, illness or near-death experience jolts the consciousness out of its slumber.

To live without connection to Spirit makes us feel empty, fearful and meaningless. Our core purpose is to remember who we are beyond the human.

If you are reading this, you are already on your spiritual path. Let’s all dial it up this new year, for the world will need as much love and light as we can muster.

“There is an indefinable mysterious Power that pervades everything. I feel it, though I do not see it. It is this unseen Power which makes itself felt and yet defies all proof, because it is so unlike all that I perceive through my senses. It transcends the senses. But it is possible to reason out the existence of God to a limited extent.

I do dimly perceive that whilst everything around me is ever changing, ever-dying, there is underlying all that change a Living Power that is changeless, that holds all together, that creates, dissolves, and recreates. That informing Power or Spirit is God. And since nothing else I see merely through the senses can or will persist, He alone is.

And is this Power benevolent or malevolent? I see it as purely benevolent. For I can see, that in the midst of death life persists, in the midst of untruth truth persists, in the midst of darkness light persists. Hence I gather that God is Life, Truth, Light. He is Love. He is the Supreme Good”
